“SILENCE”

ACT 1

We introduce Travis Smith, who is from Brooklyn, New York. He is currently in a relationship with his girlfriend Brittany, but they are struggling in their relationship. He is also working a 9-5 job, has an internship with Tyler Perry Studios and is also attending college in Atlanta as well.

CHARACTERS:

Travis Smith

Brittany Daniels – Girlfriend

Makayla Brown – Best friend

Dr. Charlene Washington – Counselor

SCENE 1

FADE IN:

EXT. STREET - DAY

Travis is walking down the streets of Atlanta. He is talking on the phone with his mother about something important.

EXT. DORM - NIGHT

Later that evening, He walked to his dorm because he had an assignment due at 11:59.

He was walking there in a cautious manner, looking around at everything and every sound that shattered the quiet sound of the streets.

SCENE 2

INT. DORM - NIGHT

As he got to his room, he realized that he did not know where his keys were to get inside his room.

He started to have a mental breakdown right in front of his room.

One of the residents saw him and contacted one of the Ras of the building, who happens to be Travis friend.

TRAVIS FRIEND

What is going on Travis, is everything okay?

TRAVIS

No everything is not okay. It is a lot

going on right now. Can we talk in the

office?

His friend came over to take him to the AD’s office and they spoke. He told Travis that he needs to go the counselor’s office.

SCENE 3

INT. COUNSELOR’S OFFICE - DAY

Travis walks inside the counselor’s office building to go see Dr. Washington.

Once he walks inside, he sees his girlfriend coming out of the counselor’s office.

They talk about why she has been going to the counselor’s office.

TRAVIS

Why have you been to the counselor

and not told me anything?

GIRLFRIEND

I have been going to the counselor because

I realize how bad I have been treating you

and my family for over 20 years, and it is

going to stop because I realize how much you

and my family love me.

She asks why he is at the counselor’s office.

GIRLFRIEND

But enough about me, why are you here?

He doesn’t tell her right now because he feels like it is not the right time.

TRAVIS

Oh, I am just waiting for one of my

homeboys to come out of class.

GIRLFRIEND

Okay, I will see you later. Love you.

Once the girlfriend leaves, the counselor calls Travis inside the office.

DR. WASHINGTON (COUNSELOR)

Travis, you can come into my office now.

TRAVIS

Hello, Dr. Washington.

Travis and the counselor start talking about his problems with his girlfriend, his job and internships.

DR. WASHINGTON

So, Travis why are you here today?

TRAVIS

Well, I am having mental breakdowns, and

I recently had one yesterday. It is a lot

going on in my relationship with my family

and my girlfriend. Also, it affects my job

and internship as well.

The counselor suggests that him and his girlfriend come and meet with him at the same time, but Travis is like he doesn’t want that to happen right now.

DR. WASHINGTON

Oh, I know who your girlfriend is.

you should bring her in one day, so

you and she can talk out the problems.

TRAVIS

No, I don’t think that now is the right

time to tell her. I am going to tell her

eventually.

ACT 2

Here Travis has left the counselor’s office after talking with Dr. Washington. He felt like he did not want to tell his girlfriend because he knew that it was not the right time at all, but he know that he will tell her eventually just not right now.

SCENE 4

EXT. SIDEWALK OF THE STREET - DAY

Travis seen his friend walking down the sidewalk of the street. They both decide to go get smoothies from the college’s smoothie shop.

Once they get their smoothies, they walk back to the dorm.

Travis and his friend start humming a song, and then Travis’s friend ask him about the mental breakdown, and how he has been doing.

TRAVIS FRIEND

Are you okay brother, I heard about

your mental breakdown yesterday in

the residence hall?

Travis stops humming and asks his friend how he knows about the mental breakdown.

TRAVIS

Who told you about my mental breakdown?

His friend says that he is also an RA and was there when the mental breakdown happened.

TRAVIS FRIEND

You must have forgot that I am a RA in the residence hall.

TRAVIS

Can I talk with you in private inside the AD office?

SCENE 5

INT. DORM - DAY

Travis and his friend go inside the RA office to talk about the mental breakdown and what is causing his stress.

His friend is shocked and is like why he didn’t come to him in the first place about this.

Travis’s friend told him that he should sit down with his family and talk out all the problems about what has been going on.

Travis is going to talk to his girlfriend, but he doesn’t want to talk to his family because they are not going to take him seriously at all about something this serious.

SCENE 6

EXT. CITY - DAY

Travis left the RA Office to go walk around the city of Atlanta because he needed some fresh air.

While he is walking, he starts humming and brushing his hair to keep his 360-wave pattern.

He hears a familiar voice say his name…

MAKAYLA

Long time, no see Travis Smith.

He turns around and it is his best friend Makayla from high school. He hasn’t seen her since the graduation party.

TRAVIS

How are you, have not seen you since the graduation party?

MAKAYLA

How is the media industry?

TRAVIS

I currently have an internship with Tyler

Perry Studios, and I have been working ever

since high school.

He is excited to see his high school best friend.

She is doing well because she has her own cosmetic business, and it is out visiting Atlanta with some of her friends before she has to go to another state to help with a movie.

They talk about her business, and Travis’s job with the media industry.

Makayla wants to see Travis’s college, so she tells her friends that she is going to walk with Travis back to his dorm.

They start walking back to the dorm. They look happy to see each other and start catching up on old times.

MAKAYLA

Oh, I know about your girlfriend as well, don’t

forget I follow you on all social media platforms.

you always posting her a lot. Do you remember when

people thought that you and I were together because

we were around each other in high school.

TRAVIS

True, because people still ask me about you.

My girlfriend asked about you the other day.

SCENE 7

INT. DORM - NIGHT

They walk inside of the Travis’s resident dorm and sits in the lobby.

Travis’s friend comes out and asks about Travis’s best friend.

TRAVIS FRIEND

Who is this?

Travis tells him that this his best friend from high school.

TRAVIS

This is my best friend from high school, Makayla.

Travis’s friend says a joke about how his girlfriend gets when she sees him talking to another girl.

TRAVIS FRIEND

You know how your girlfriend gets

When she sees you with another female.

As soon as he says that his girlfriend walks up to the door and knocks on it.

Travis opens the door, and his girlfriend says hello to Makayla because they used to know each other in high school as well.

GIRLFRIEND

Hey Makayla, how have you been? Haven’t seen

you since high school.

MAKAYLA

I have been good. I have my own cosmetic business.

GIRLFRIEND

That’s good, Travis can we talk later in your room?

TRAVIS

Okay, we can. I will meet you in there.

His girlfriend asks for the keys to his room, so she can go put her stuff down, and that they can talk later.

He gives her the keys to it, so she can go put her stuff down.

Makayla calls her friends to come pick her up and she leaves to go with her friends to their hotel.

ACT 3

Travis has just came from talking with his life-long best friend Makayla that he has not seen in a long time ever since the graduation party, and before Makayla left Travis, she gave him a kiss on the cheek and he did not know why she did that, but little did he know that he was going to be in a very wild night tonight.

SCENE 8

INT. DORM ROOM - NIGHT

Travis walks inside the room and hugs and kiss his girlfriend.

His girlfriend asks him about yesterday and Travis looks confused because why is she asking about yesterday.

GIRLFRIEND

So, can we talk about yesterday and today?

TRAVIS

Why do we need to talk about yesterday?

His girlfriend asks about the mental breakdown yesterday and starts crying and getting sad because one of her family members committed suicide because of mental issues.

GIRLFRIEND

I know about your mental breakdowns. Why

did you not tell me at all?

TRAVIS

I did not feel like it was the right time

to tell anyone.

GIRLFRIEND

I am sad because one of my family members used

to have the same problems, and she ended up

killing herself.

TRAVIS

I love you, and I promise I will never do it again.

Travis hugs his girlfriend and apologizes to her for everything and that he promises to make sure that it will never happen again.

They lay down together and watches TV until his girlfriend phones start buzzing and it is her ex.

Travis asks her why he is calling and texting her.

TRAVIS

Why is your ex calling you?

GIRLFRIEND

What are you talking about?

TRAVIS

Why is your ex calling you? I

thought you were done with him.

The phone says a message that makes Travis furious and he starts yelling at her to the point where his friend comes in the room to intervene.

GIRLFRIEND

I am so sorry, Travis.

TRAVIS

GET OUT OF MY ROOM RIGHT NOW!

The girlfriend leaves and Travis’s friend tries to calm him down.

TRAVIS FRIEND

Bro, what is going on?

TRAVIS

Bro, she cheated on me. Why did I choose a hoe?

TRAVIS

What you mean she cheated?

While he is calming him down, someone knocks on the door…

TRAVIS

Who is it?

EX BOYFRIEND

It is your girlfriend ex. Bro, can we talk.

TRAVIS

If you let him in here, I am going to kill him.

It is the girlfriend’s ex!!!

Travis tries to get past his friend to fight the ex because he is very angry about the situation.

The friend pushes Travis to the other side of the room, and walks out with the ex.

Travis gets by the door so he can hear them talking.

The friend brings him inside the room, so they can talk.

TRAVIS FRIEND

Just calm down bro and hear him out.

TRAVIS

Let him in so we can talk.

EX BOYFRIEND

Bro, I never knew she had a boyfriend.

She didn’t tell me she had one at all.

I am really sorry bro; I know how hurt you

are right now. She played both of us because

she did the same thing to me while me and her

was together.

While the ex is explaining everything, Travis goes to the knife inside his drawer, and tries to kill himself, and the ex and the friend try to stop him.

Someone else knocks on the door…

It is the girlfriend… she wants to talk to Travis in private.

GIRLFRIEND

Can I please speak to Travis in private?

TRAVIS FRIEND

Whatever you say to him, you can save in front of us.

The ex and the friend stay inside the room because they won’t leave them alone.

The girlfriend tries to apologize and explain herself because she wants Travis to forgive her for all of that and everything that she has ever done.

GIRLFRIEND

Okay, let me just say that I am sorry for letting

this happen. I did not want it to come to this.

Travis wants to hear explain herself to him and the ex-boyfriend right now because he wants to hear everything.

While she is talking, someone else knocks on the door…

The friend goes to open up the door, and it is Makayla.

MAKAYLA

Why should he believe all of that you hoe?

GIRLFRIEND

Why are you here? Leave us alone, and let

me talk to him.

MAKAYLA

You hurt his heart to the core.

How can he ever forgive you for that?

I got the call from Travis friend because

he got my number out of Travis phone.

She got the call from the friend to come over because he knew that she can calm down Travis.

She walks past the ex-boyfriend, the girlfriend, and the friend and starts to kiss Travis right in front of them.

Everyone is shocked because no one knew that she was going to do that.

TRAVIS

What was that for?

MAKAYLA

I just wanted you to know that I will

always be here for you.

The girlfriend walks out the room, and then Travis sits there happy because he had feelings for her as well.

EXT. STREET - DAY

Travis and Makayla walk around together because they get together and live happily ever after.
